South America Tour

 south america tours with explore

Explore! is one of few tour operators offering a variety of tours to Venezuela. Occupying the northern chunk of South America, Venezuela encompasses some fantastic beaches and diving, extraordinary wild places such as La Gran Sabana, the tallest waterfall in the world - Angel Falls, the monumental Andes mountains and extraordinary, primitive tribal groups.
However, Venezuela also has urban crime problems so individual travel is not recommended. Explore will provide you with hard copy brochures of their Venezuela tours for your offline consideration via their brochure request pages should you need them.

'Angel Falls and Orinoco River' is a 16 day non-trekking journey into remote regions of Venezuela, which takes in some of South America's least visited and most amazing sights:
Orinoco Delta & Warao Indians: Deep in the Orinoco Delta Nature Reserve, a luxuriant mangrove forest of outstanding beauty, Explorers stay for three nights in isolated Indian stilt houses, use local dugouts, observe exotic flora and fauna and meet the native Warao tribe.
Rainforest Canoe Journey & Angel Falls: Explorers then spend 4 days travelling to Canaima by canoe, guided through rapids by Indian boatmen. Sleeping in hammocks in simple shelters on the river bank at night, they are enveloped by virgin forest and jungle sounds. The destination is Angel Falls, a single unbroken cascade falling 975m off the 'Devil's Mountain', the tallest waterfall in the world.
Alligators, Anacondas & Anteaters: The Venezuelan wetlands of Los Llanos are a little visited showcase of tropical wildlife. Explorers stay at a working cattle ranch and are likely to see alligator, anaconda, capabari, turtle, freshwater dolphin and armadillo as well as over 100 of the 750 species of birds found in the area.

'The Lost World', a 16 day trekking and canoeing journey into remote regions of Venezuela, includes an ascent of isolated and very rarely visited Roraima table mountain:
Mt Roraima: Driving across the Orinoco region to Peraitepui, a tiny Indian village from where explorers start their ascent of Roraima. They ascend the massif's sandstone cliff and find a 'Lost World' of eroded stone pillars and standing rocks where bromeliads, carnivorous plants and rare orchids abound.
High above the surrounding tropical forest and lush grasslands, Roraima's summit (2810m) affords breathtaking views which stretch into Guyana and Brazil.
Rainforest Canoe Journey: Flying into the Indian settlement of Kamarata on the Rio Akanan, the next four days are spent travelling to Canaima by canoe, guided through the rapids by native boatmen. Sleeping in hammocks in simple shelters on the river bank at night they head for Angel Falls, the tallest waterfall in the world at 975m.
If water levels allow, they make a day-hike to the base of the falls.
Finally, there's time to relax on the Caribbean shores at Chichirivichi de La Costa.
